Beauty & Health

Sooo, yea just like the title stated, this will be my Diary and your peek into my fitness Journey. I welcomed my lovely Bambino into the world in 2010, and I've been on a fitness saga ever since. Although I was active before my son, I struggled with finding a fitness routine after his birth. Juggling school, a business, and being a mommy meant finding me time was out the window. At my heaviest, I was 220lbs in a 5'2 body frame! I also battled with PCOS which made gaining weight very easily. I knew it was time for a change and I was ready for it.

What was my turning Point?
After browsing through pictures, I realized I was slowly creeping towards the obesity line. In fact, At my current Height and weight I was considered medically obese. I thought about my future, my son's future, and how I felt on the inside. I am usually a bubbly spirit, but the weight was taking a toll on me physically and emotionally. This was enough for me to strap on my Brooks and change my lifestyle for better.

How did I get started?
I joined my local Black Girls Run Group and started hitting the pavement. I started walking, then increased  it to  power walking, and gradually into a run/skip. I also  incorporated Gymnetics Fitness into my workouts. The mother daughter duo was an awesome way to build my stamina in the privacy of my home. Trust me, it was not easy! I was huffing and puffing the entire workout lol. When I was confident enough, I started running 1k runs with Nike+, and slowly graduated into 5k runs. I was not focused on speed, but more on form, and getting the best cardio workout safely. My food intake also changed. I started eating more vegetables, drinking more water, natural juices, and consuming less carbs.

Where am I Now?
Well, I am far from where I started a few months ago. I have build more muscle definition in my arms and legs.I am able to run longer distance without feeling the need to stop. I can definitely pump more iron than I used to, and  My core is a lot stronger than what it use to be. Although my tummy is still a problem area(c-section), I am certain that with time and consistency, I will see more results.

What's Next?
My goal is to eventually become healthy, and help others in their journey to becoming fit. I've developed a fascination and love for body building and would like to eventually get into that arena. I am not where I need to be, but I am certainly on my way to where I should be.
